I’ve never been much of a pastel person for some reason. I’m a girly-girl, so it surprises me that I don’t drool over them; I just never got into them, I guess. Brights? Sure. Neutrals? Yes. Jewel tones? Yes please! Pastels? Meh. …until recently.
What happened? I have no idea. All I know is that spring polishes hit the shelves in all their pastel glory and my cold, pastel-disliking heart melted a little. And then another strange thing happened. I usually don’t like blue polish; again, I have no idea why, it’s just not my jam. But what pastel shade really caught my eye? Blue. What’s going on with me? Maybe I’m sick or something but, for the first time ever, I left a store with a pastel blue polish in my bag. Zoya Blu to be exact!
Blu is a beautiful, light blue pastel. It makes me think of hyacinths and clear spring skies. It’s the perfect pastel color to brighten up this dismal winter weather that’s still hanging around! Application-wise, Blu was a smidge thick but it wasn’t a problem. The formula applied smoothly and evenly; the first coat was a little patchy, but the second coat evened itself out. My verdict? Gorgeous! This is such a beautiful blue (blu?), and I never thought I’d say that about a blue shade because I usually turn up my nose at them. The formula is great, as Zoya formulas generally are. It just snowed here, but this polish has me dreaming of spring skies ahead :) I’ve got to admit it, I’m glad that this is my first official pastel polish – thanks, Zoya! I also think it will be an especially pretty polish to layer glitters over.
You can purchase Blu and/or the rest of the Spring 2013 Lovely collection for $8 each on the Zoya website or at a major beauty retailer that carries salon brands (like Ulta).
What do you think of Blu? What about pastels in general? Are you as ready for spring as I am?
